My 20’s

I plan on graduating when the summer after I turn twenty three with a major in Business Management. If everything falls in place, I’ll hopefully be working for the Tampa Bay Lightning right out of school and throughout my twenties hopefully work my way up. After I have my feet on the ground and a great career, I’ll hopefully be starting a family in my late 20’s.

I don’t know what to think about the world future during my twenties. For all I know, because of this 2012 thing I might not even make it to twenty two lol. But the night before it’s all suppose to go down, you better believe I’m gonna be out having the time of my life just in case. I’m hoping in the near future that the recession will fully recede and things will go back to normal. Especially gas prices because the price of gas right now is absolutely ridiculous. There will also be a new president in the near future, which I can’t wait for, and hopefully he will be able to turn this country into a new better direction.

First off let me mention how stupid it is to have the World Cup in Qater, where temperatures generally reach up to 104 degrees…way to put our World’s greatest soccer players in danger. But because of this, the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering program at Qatar university, is building this “artificial cloud” to help shade the entire place. It’s remote controlled, completely made up of light carbonic material(including helium), fueled by four solar-powered engines and is going to cost about 500,000 dollars. This is important because it’s technology that we haven’t seen done before and if it works like they say it will, in the future they could be used over beaches and parking lots.

Above is an article explaining how the idea was stolen from a 1995 episode of The Simpsons.

Thought this was pretty funny to go along with it.

TECH TIP

I know this one is also late but I’m not a very technological person, so it was difficult to think of something…haha. A cool tip i learned yesterday was if you have an Android phone 4G(it might also work on the Iphones, I’m not too sure) and your having problems with your battery lasting throughout the day, you can actually switch it to a lower “G” and it will help save battery. So say your not using the internet and theres no reason for you 4G to be on, you can go to settings, then wireless and networks and switch your phone to 2G. I have a buddy that does it and he says he has no problem with his phone lasting throughout the day and even into the next. I know it’s pretty simple but it’s all I got haha.

Unfortunately, I got to spend the majority of my Spring Break working here, at Target. Even though Spring Break is suppose to be about fun, soaking up the sun, and having ice cold drinks, but I had to be responsible and take the opportunity to use this time given to me to make as much money as I can, as you all know, college ain’t cheap. From what I read, Spring Break is used differently all around the world. Like the U.S. some just use it as a break from school. But in other countries it’s called “reading week” or “study week” to help catch up and get things done. It is said that the Greeks and Romans used this week as a celebration of spring which is the season of fertility and awakening. Now in the U.S. its either a relaxation week to get away from the stresses of school and get your mind right or a week of partying and caring about what else is going on. Last year we got a house on Clearwater beach for the week and it was one of the best weeks of my life. I had some of the most fun I’ve ever had and got to spend it with my closest friends. Let me add that Florida colleges screwed USF over this year by not giving us the same Spring Break as everyone else. Hopefully that’s not the same case next year.

The author Arthur E. Levine is giving a description of how he believes colleges and universities are going to be in the future. His one theory that is already in effect here at USF is that the most competitive and attractive higher education institutions will be “brick and click”, this means that there are classes online, which are easy, but still having the physical face-to-face teaching from a professor. Some of his theories are a little out there, like the fact that he thinks professors could become like rock stars. But some of them are pretty legit, like the one where he says students with be taking over our own educational agenda, meaning we would be able to focus on our own educational abilities and take classes that we actually need for our futures.

Photo with 1 note

This photo is a good representation on who I am because I love doing things that make my adrenaline rush and I love having fun. Ever since I went mountain biking and mountain boarding when I was twelve, I’ve been an adrenaline junky. Every year I try to do something that everyone wants to do but not many have. Like skydiving a month ago was the craziest thing I’ve ever done, the year before that I got the chance to go white water rafting and mountain climbing and the year before that I did the Richard Petty Experience at Daytona International Speedway and got to drive a racecar around the track at about 150 miles per hour, it was pretty sick. You only live once so why not live it up??

Video

A viral video is a clip or full length video that achieves widespread distribution throughout the world via online sharing through website and email. Basically, it’s a video that is awesome enough to be viewed hundreds and thousands of times. The video has to have something amazing or unique to it that catches the audience’s eye. You have to have that WOW factor that people will want to talk about and watch. If you’re lucky now a day’s you’ll even get your video on T.V. A lot of news channels show them, there’s a comedy show called Tosh.0 that shows lots of viral videos and makes fun of them and if the case of my video it got on Sportscenter. I believe that when these shows do that it makes them more viral then they were before. I find myself every once in a while going on and checking these videos out again as I’m sure lots of people do. Have people gotten their “15 minutes of fame”? Yeah, people have even made careers out of it. For example, in my video, this kid is a senior, playing in his last regular season game, and he makes the shot which is being called my many as “the best shot in the world”. He has now been on Sportscenter and guest appeared on NHL Overtime and has got to meet different hockey analysts and players. It’s been one of the hottest things on ESPN all week. Enjoy and appreciate that shot.
